This piece, which speaks from my heart and my Pennsylvania German roots actually began without the rabbit. My plan at the start was to create a simple, small scale tulip bird tree. As I was nearing completion, a vision of the "Gilbert Rabbit" kept running in front of the piece. The "Gilbert Rabbit" is the first known Pennsylvania German fraktur drawing of the Easter rabbit. The rabbit in the end finds himself running before the tulip bird tree, earning the title "Rabbit Run".
