Smoke and flames pour out of the windows of the red mill, frightening a horse and its passengers. The alarm sounds and firefighters rush to the scene with their trusty horses pulling a new steam engine. All of the commotion attracts spellbound onlookers who wander out of their warm homes to see what all the commotion is.

This painting is dedicated to the volunteer firemen of Canaan, NY who put out a fire in one of my families barns years ago. It is scheduled to be a puzzle with Masterpiece Puzzles in 2012.
